SGS is progressively moving along the path to recovery and continues to be vigilant in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 health threat.

Last updated: August 6, 2020

Our commitment to our people and our customers

Throughout the COVID-19 health crisis, SGS Crisis Management Team provided global guidance to management on preventive measures for SGS entities across the world, in order to avoid the presence of the virus on our premises, protect SGS employees and maintain operations. Protecting our people and our customer’s people remains our top priority as the world gradually moves towards recovery and adapts to a new business reality.

As companies across the world are cautiously coming out of lockdown and preparing a progressive return to work, SGS continues to monitor official announcements from local governments, International SOS and the World Health Organization for guidance on how best to adapt to a new business reality.

During the pandemic, 83% of our sites remained open for service delivery and we maintained our usual high standards of customer service despite the extraordinary circumstances.

Starting this month, governments in some parts of the world are putting in place plans for progressive economic recovery and announcing new measures for back to work. SGS is getting back to business as quickly as possible but as carefully as needed to ensure the health and safety of all our people. All necessary stringent controls and preventive measures in the workplace will continue and we have stepped up office disinfection of our sites throughout the working day. To minimize the threat of spreading the virus we are adapting our working practices to the new reality by ensuring social distancing in office spaces. Staggered work teams are in place to limit the number of people on site during the working week. For their own personal security, and where possible in local SGS offices around the world, some employees will also continue to work from home.

To help our communities emerge stronger from the health crisis, SGS is already working with customers on developing added-value services to support their safe operational return to business and help rebuild their customers’ confidence levels. You can find details of SGS business solutions here.
