SGS ACHIEVES GMP+ B11 ACCREDITATION AT AGRICULTURE AND FOOD LABS IN BULGARIA
SGS, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, has achieved GMP+ B11 accreditation for its agriculture and food laboratory in Bulgaria, significantly expanding its global presence in the delivery of feed certification services.
Awarded in November 2018, the approval gives feed operators in the region access to world-leading certification services as per the GMP+ FSA (Feed Safety Assurance) scheme.
From July 1, 2019, laboratories offering critical contaminant analysis of animal feed to GMP+ FSA certified companies must be GMP+ registered. This can be achieved by gaining certification to the new B11 standard for Registered Laboratories. B11 defines performance standards for the analysis of four critical contaminants:
- Aflatoxin B1
- Dioxins/dioxin-like PCBs/ non-dioxin-like PCBs
- Heavy metals and fluorine
SGS Varna Lab recognition covers the full scope of contaminants and is effective until the end of January 2020.
SGS teams conduct field inspections of vessels, barges, trains and trucks, monitoring previous shipments and cleaning methods in accordance with the International Transport Database for Feed. Samples are taken, and testing completed under accredited methods, in accordance with the GMP+ annexes for contaminants detection.
In addition, under its remit as a certification body, SGS also provides qualified animal feed auditors to verify GMP+ FSA requirements are met regarding quality management systems, contaminant monitoring, animal feed regulation fulfilment and traceability/recall procedures.
