The SGS CODEX VERIFIED SCHEME is designed for food product manufacturers that wish to demonstrate to consumers their commitment to food safety, by displaying the Codex Verified mark on product packaging.

SGS’s Codex verified product approval scheme is a process of factory audits and product testing against Codex Alimentarius product standards to ensure that a product meets these recommended requirements. The SGS CODEX VERIFIED SCHEME is an approval scheme for food products that takes into account the local and international directives, specifications and regulations that are relevant for each type of food products.

SGS CODEX APPROVAL MARK is given to food products that pass the initial analytical testing and factory audit phase. The SGS CODEX APPROVAL MARK shows that the safety of a food product is verified and trusted by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification testing and certification company. The SGS CODEX APPROVAL MARK can only appear on food products if they constantly comply with the relevant food safety requirements.

In 2015 Lidl Bulgaria has started successful partnership with SGS Bulgaria in relation with SGS CODEX VERIFIED Scheme to ensure compliance with the relevant food safety requirements.

In 2015 meat products of Lidl Bulgaria have successfully completed the Initial Approval stage of Codex Verified Scheme and are permitted to carry the SGS CODEX APPROVAL MARK on the product packaging. These are the first products in Bulgaria that are approved within the CODEX VERIFIED SCHEME and are authorized to use the SGS CODEX APPROVAL MARK.
