After a comprehensive audit conducted by SGS auditors, Bulgafrost PLC successfully achieved certification in accordance with the International Food Standard (IFS). The certificate is valid for a year, until June 24, 2010, and was issued under DAR accreditation. The scope of the accreditation covers the production of frozen fruits and vegetables.
The International Food Standard builds on ISO 9001 and implements additional legislative requirements, as well as the principles of good practice and HACCP risk analysis. The IFS also refers to EU legislation concerning the handling of allergens and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Benefits from IFS certification include: increased productivity, greater product safety, strengthened trust between the organization and the consumers, and increased brand equity valuation of the brand and company image.
